EV chargers
Electric motorbike charging in your garage in Seville, Spain: e-bikes and e-scooters too
We install electric motorbike charging in your garage, storage room or parking space in Seville, Spain: a protected socket or a low-power charger with its own circuit breaker and RCD, fed from your own meter. It works for your e-bike and e-scooter too, without tapping into the electricity of the comunidad (the residents' association).

Electric motorbike charging in Seville, Spain: what you need
An electric motorbike, an e-bike or an e-scooter does not need a car charger, but it does need a safe socket. Charging every day with an extension lead from the storage room, or plugged into the stairwell lighting supply, is the most common way to end up with problems, both with the comunidad (the community of owners that runs the building) and with the installation. What we install in Seville, Spain is simple and neat:
- A protected socket, a heavy-duty Schuko type, or a low-power charger.
- Its own circuit with a circuit breaker (MCB) and a 30 mA RCD (GFCI in the US).
- Fed from your own meter, so the consumption goes on your bill.
- Cable in conduit along the route through the garage, with sealed wall crossings.
What the regulations say
EV charging in Spain is governed by ITC-BT-52 of the Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulation (REBT), which includes mode 1 and mode 2 charging: a standard socket, with no communication with the vehicle in the first case and with the control box on the cable in the second. It is not recommended for a car, but for e-bikes, e-scooters and light motorbikes it is the normal way to charge. In garages ITC-BT-29 also applies.
In an individual space in a communal garage, article 17.5 of the Horizontal Property Law only requires prior notice to the community, and the person who installs it pays for the installation and the consumption. What you can never do is connect to the shared services sockets.
Garages in Seville and what we find
- Blocks from the 1960s to the 1980s in Nervión, Triana, La Macarena or Los Remedios. Garages with no free ducting, meters in the entrance hall and storage rooms with no electricity. We have to plan the shortest and cleanest route from the meter room to the space or storage room. See our pages on Nervión, Triana and Los Remedios.
- New-build blocks in Sevilla Este or Dos Hermanas. Since licences granted from 16 December 2022, new residential buildings come with charging ducting to every space. Using that conduit makes the socket much cheaper. More on Sevilla Este and Dos Hermanas.
- Detached and terraced houses (townhouses). The socket comes from the house fuse box on its own circuit, like a car charger but simpler. If a car arrives later, we upgrade it to a home EV charger.
How we work
- We look at the garage: where your meter is, the distance to the space or storage room and whether there is free conduit.
- We give you a fixed price in writing and the details to notify the community.
- We install the line, the small consumer unit with protections and the socket or charger.
- We measure and test the RCD and the earth connection.
- We issue the installation certificate.

Frequently asked questions
Can I charge my motorbike from a socket in the communal garage?
Not from the community sockets. That electricity belongs to the shared services and all the neighbours pay for it, so using it to charge without an agreement means consuming communal energy. The right way is your own socket fed from your meter, with its own circuit breaker and RCD, in your space or storage room.
Do I need permission from the comunidad to fit a socket in my space?
For a charging point in an individual parking space, article 17.5 of the Spanish Horizontal Property Law (Ley de Propiedad Horizontal) only requires prior notice to the president or the property administrator, and the cost and consumption are yours. We help you with the technical details of the letter: space, cable route, equipment and installer company.
How much does it cost to install a socket for an electric motorbike?
As a guide, 250 to 600 euros plus 21 % VAT (302.50 to 726 euros in total) with its circuit and protections, depending on the distance to the meter or fuse box and the cable route through the garage. If the building already has ducting to the spaces, the price drops because no new route has to be opened. We give you a fixed price after seeing the garage.
Can I charge my e-scooter from a normal socket?
Yes: e-bikes and e-scooters charge with their own charger plugged into a household socket, what the regulation calls mode 1. What matters is that the socket is yours, protected by an RCD and not used with power strips or coiled extension leads (extension cords). That is exactly what we leave installed.
Will the same socket work if I later buy a plug-in hybrid?
A 16 A heavy-duty socket on its own circuit lets you charge a plug-in hybrid slowly with the cable supplied with the car, now and then. For a car used every day the recommended option is a wall charger on its own dedicated circuit. If you are planning one, we size the cable from the start so you can switch later.
What if my storage room has no electricity?
A line is run from your meter or your flat to the storage room, with a small consumer unit with circuit breaker and RCD, and from there the socket and, if you like, a light. It is the same job as a socket in your parking space with a different route, and it stays in your name and on your bill.
