Electrician in Seville (Sevilla), Spain: every district, explained for newcomers
Looking for an electrician in Sevilla, Spain who explains the Spanish system clearly? We work across all 11 districts of the city, from the old town and Triana to Nervión and Sevilla Este, and each one has its own type of building and its own typical faults.

An electrician in Seville, Spain who knows each district
Seville has around 690,000 residents spread across 11 districts and more than a hundred official barrios. For an electrician, what matters is the housing in each one, because it tells us in advance which faults you are likely to have and which jobs are worth doing:
- Casco Antiguo and Triana. Old casas de vecinos (houses built around a shared patio) and restored buildings with ageing supply cables, damp patios and many bars and shops that need emergency lighting and periodic inspections.
- Nervión, Los Remedios, El Porvenir and Macarena. Blocks of flats (apartments) from the 1960s and 1970s, wired for about 3 kW, often without earthing (grounding) and with very few circuits. This is where most rewiring and fuse board replacements happen.
- Norte, San Pablo-Santa Justa and Cerro-Amate. Brick estates from the 1960s to the 1980s with large communities of owners, stairwell lighting and meter rooms that need updating.
- Sevilla Este, Los Bermejales and Bellavista-La Palmera. Homes from 1990 onwards and plenty of new builds: EV chargers in communal garages, light fittings and smart home systems.
What surprises newcomers in a Spanish home
If you have just moved from the UK, Ireland, the US or northern Europe, a few things work differently here:
- Potencia contratada. Every electricity contract has a maximum power in kW, usually in steps of 3.45, 4.6, 5.75 or 6.9 kW. Go over it and the whole home goes off. Raising it may require a new certificate, as we explain on increase contracted power.
- The boletín. The electrical installation certificate (officially the CIE) is the nearest thing to a UK EICR, with one big difference: the distributor can refuse to connect a supply, raise the power or put a contract in your name without a valid one. See our page on the electrical certificate (boletín).
- Distributor and supplier are different companies. In Andalusia, e-distribución owns the cables and the meter and fixes power cuts (outages). Endesa, Iberdrola, Naturgy or any other supplier only sends the bill. If the whole street is dark, call e-distribución, not your supplier.
- Sockets. Spanish sockets (outlets) are Schuko, Type F. UK plugs need an adaptor or a plug change; swapping the sockets for UK ones is not an option.
Where Seville is building
Most new homes in the city are going up in the south, in Palmas Altas and Isla Natura, and in the east, around Sevilla Este and Hacienda del Rosario. Next come Cruz del Campo, beside Nervión, and, from 2027, Villanueva del Pítamo, planned for 9,910 homes. New flats are handed over without light fittings and with conduit for an EV charger in the garage, but no charger, so that is where those jobs are most in demand.
Heat, air conditioning and the fuse board
In Seville, summer sets the pace. With temperatures above 40 degrees for weeks, air conditioning runs almost non-stop and many older installations reach their limit: breakers trip, extension leads get hot and the contracted power falls short. Before summer it pays to check the fuse board (consumer unit), give the air conditioning its own circuit and decide whether raising the potencia makes sense. If your RCD (GFCI) trips with the first autumn rain, read why your RCD keeps tripping.
Choose your area
These pages explain the housing, the usual faults and the jobs we do most in each area:
- In the city: City centre, Triana, Los Remedios, Nervión and Sevilla Este.
- Around the city: Dos Hermanas, Mairena del Aljarafe, Tomares, Bormujos and the Aljarafe north villages.
For a power cut at night or a fault that will not reset, our 24-hour emergency electrician covers the whole city.
Most requested services in Seville
24-hour emergency electrician
An emergency electrician in Seville, Spain for when the power goes off, the RCD trips, there is a burning smell or a socket sparks. We come out at any hour, find the fault, give you the price before repairing anything and leave the installation safe.
RCD keeps tripping
If your RCD keeps tripping and will not stay up, there is a current leaking to earth somewhere in a circuit or an appliance. We locate it with an insulation tester, repair it and check that your RCD (GFCI) protects you as it should.
Rewiring old apartments
Rewiring an apartment in Seville, Spain is the answer when the installation is more than 25 or 30 years old: fabric or dried-out cables, no earthing, a single RCD and a supply that cannot run the air conditioning and the induction hob at once. We renew cables, conduits, fuse board, earthing and fittings and hand you the boletín.
Electrical certificate (boletín)
The electrical certificate in Spain, known by everyone as the boletín and officially the CIE (certificado de instalación eléctrica), is the document a registered installer company signs to confirm that your installation meets the regulations. You need it to connect the electricity, increase your power or change the account holder with an old installation. We inspect, certify and register it with the Junta de Andalucía in Seville.
EV charger in a communal garage
An EV charger in a communal garage in Spain only requires you to notify the comunidad (the homeowners' association): no vote, no permission. We run the line from your meter to your parking space in Seville, install the charger with its protection devices and register the boletín.
Downlights and recessed spotlights
LED lighting installation in Seville, Spain with downlights and recessed spotlights (recessed lights or pot lights in the US): we plan where each light goes, cut the false ceiling, run the lines and leave everything working, with dimming if you want it. Orders of 30 to 50 downlights, typical in a new flat, done in a single day.

Frequently asked questions
Which parts of Seville do you cover?
All of them. We work in the 11 municipal districts: Casco Antiguo, Macarena, Norte, Nervión, San Pablo-Santa Justa, Este-Alcosa-Torreblanca, Cerro-Amate, Sur, Bellavista-La Palmera, Triana and Los Remedios, as well as Dos Hermanas and the Aljarafe towns. When you call, we give you an estimated arrival time for your address.
Can a UK or Irish electrician sign my boletín in Spain?
No. Only a registered installation company entered in the Junta de Andalucía register can issue and file the electrical installation certificate (CIE), which everyone calls the boletín. A foreign qualification, however good, does not allow an electrician to sign it, and the distributor will not accept a certificate without that registration.
Everything goes off when I use the kettle and the air conditioning together. Is it a fault?
Usually not. Your contract has a fixed potencia contratada (contracted power), for example 3.45 or 4.6 kW, and the smart meter cuts the supply when you go over it. Switch something off and press the button on the meter to restore the power. If it happens often, we work out whether to raise the potencia or reorganise your circuits.
