Fire and smoke detection in Seville, Spain: homes, business premises and garages
Fire and smoke detection in Seville, Spain: smoke, heat and carbon monoxide detectors for homes, from 30 euros fitted, and systems with a control panel, detectors, call points and sounders for business premises, warehouses and garages, with their electrical side and maintenance under the RIPCI fire protection regulation.

Fire and smoke detection in Seville: an early warning changes everything
A fire detected in the first few minutes ends up as a scare; one discovered late can destroy a home, a business or worse. Most start at night or when the premises are closed, when nobody sees them. We install fire and smoke detection in Seville, Spain, from a battery-powered detector in a flat to the control panel of business premises or a communal garage, with the electrical side done properly.
Detection in homes
A home does not need a complex system, but it does need the right detectors in the right places:
- Smoke detector in the hallway by the bedrooms, in the living room and on each floor.
- Heat detector in the kitchen, where a smoke detector would go off when you cook.
- Carbon monoxide detector if there is a combustion boiler, fireplace, stove or water heater.
- Interlinked detectors, so that if one goes off they all sound, very useful in villas with several floors.
- Integration with home automation, so you get the alert on your mobile even when you are away. See smart home installation.
Battery or mains smoke alarms for homes follow standard UNE-EN 14604.
Detection in business premises, warehouses and garages
In businesses and buildings, detection is a complete system:
- Fire alarm control panel, conventional or addressable, which receives the signals and raises the alarm.
- Detectors: smoke, heat or carbon monoxide depending on each zone.
- Manual call points along the escape routes.
- Sounders and beacons.
- Linked actions: switching on forced ventilation in garages, closing dampers or alerting a monitoring centre.
- Battery backup for the panel, so it works even during a power cut.
In premises open to the public it is coordinated with the emergency lighting, and in communal garages with the ventilation and lighting.
Regulations
- RIPCI, Royal Decree 513/2017: the Fire Protection Installations Regulation, which governs the design, installation and maintenance of these systems.
- Spanish Building Code (CTE), DB-SI: when a building or premises need detection according to use and floor area.
- UNE 23007-14: planning, design, installation and maintenance of fire detection and alarm systems.
- UNE-EN 14604: smoke alarm devices for homes.
When the system falls under the RIPCI, its installation and maintenance are signed off by a company licensed for fire protection. In those cases we work with a licensed partner installer and we do the electrical side: power supply, lines, linked actions and coordination with the rest of the installation.
Maintenance and checks
A system that is not checked may stay silent on the day it is needed. The RIPCI sets periodic checks testing detectors, call points, sounders, batteries and the panel, with a maintenance report or certificate. In homes, it is enough to test the detectors with their button from time to time and change the battery or the unit when it warns you.
When you need it
- You are opening premises and the activity project requires detection. We include it in the electrical installation for shops and offices.
- Your comunidad has a garage with an old or faulty panel.
- You have added a fireplace or stove at home and want a carbon monoxide detector.
- You have a house on several floors or a second home that stays empty for days. An alarm system can complete the protection.
- An inspection or your insurer has asked you to bring the system up to standard.
For panels that must keep working in a power cut, a UPS system is sometimes added for the critical equipment around it.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to fit smoke detectors at home?
As a guide, a home smoke, heat or carbon monoxide detector costs 30 to 60 euros fitted, plus 21 % VAT, depending on the model and whether it is battery-powered, mains-powered or interlinked with the others. For a flat, one in each hallway and one in the living room is usually enough, plus a heat detector in the kitchen.
Where should smoke detectors go in a home?
On the ceiling, in the hallway leading to the bedrooms, in the living room and on each floor if the house has several. In the kitchen a heat detector is better, because a smoke detector would go off when you cook. If there is a boiler, fireplace or combustion stove, a carbon monoxide detector is also advisable.
I am opening a shop or bar in Spain. Is fire detection compulsory?
It depends on the use, the floor area and the risk, under the Spanish Building Code (DB-SI) and the Fire Protection Installations Regulation (RIPCI, Royal Decree 513/2017). Many business premises and almost all garages of a certain size need it. We check it against the activity project or on a visit.
Does fire detection in premises or a garage have to be checked?
Yes. The RIPCI sets periodic maintenance of detection and alarm systems, testing detectors, call points, sounders and the panel, with the corresponding report or certificate. As a guide, the annual maintenance certificate for emergency lighting and detection costs 80 to 250 euros per premises, plus VAT.
What detector does a communal garage need?
Garages mainly have carbon monoxide detectors, which switch on the forced ventilation when the concentration rises, and smoke or heat detectors connected to a panel with call points and sounders, as the Building Code and the RIPCI require for their floor area. If your comunidad (homeowners' association) asks us, we check the existing system and bring it up to standard.
