Home alarm installation in Seville, Spain: which system suits you

An alarm does not have to be expensive or complicated, but it does have to be well thought out. The first step is knowing what you want to protect and how you want to find out that something has happened: with a siren that deters, with an alert on your phone or with a monitoring centre that checks and calls for help. Parts of an alarm system

• Control panel: the brain of the system, with its own battery so it keeps working if the power goes off.
• Motion detectors: they detect movement in a room. Some models ignore pets.
• Magnetic contacts: they alert you when a door or a window is opened, even while you are inside.
• Siren indoors and, in villas and business premises, outdoors too.
• Keypad, remote fobs or app to arm and disarm the system.
• Integration with cameras and, if you want, with smart home installation or smart locks.

As a market reference, an alarm system costs around 700 euros plus 21 % VAT (about 847 euros in total). The size of the home, the number of entry points, whether the system is wired or wireless and whether it integrates cameras all affect the figure. Regulations

Spain’s Private Security Law 5/2014 regulates the connection of alarms to receiving centres, which only authorised security companies can provide, with equipment that complies with the UNE-EN 50131 standard. An alarm with no monitoring centre, which alerts the user directly, does not require that contract.
