Door entry system repair in Seville, Spain: we find where it fails
An intercom that does not ring, an entrance panel with a stuck button or a door release that buzzes but does not open turn every visitor and every parcel into a problem. In Spain this system is called the portero automático, and the handset in your flat is the telefonillo. Door entry system repair starts by finding out whether the fault is in your home or in the common part of the building, because that decides who pays and what needs replacing. We check it on the same visit, in flats and apartment buildings in Seville.
What we repair and install
- Intercom handsets: repair or replacement with a model compatible with the building’s panel.
- Entrance panels: broken buttons, audio modules with no sound, lighting of the name cards and panels damaged by rain or vandalism.
- Door releases: electric strikes that do not work and their power supply.
- Door entry power supplies, which overheat over the years and leave the whole building without service.
- Doorbells, wired or wireless, for flats and houses.
- Access control with a proximity reader, keypad or phone opening for street doors, garages and offices.
Typical cases in Seville
- Blocks from the 1960s to the 1980s. In La Macarena, Cerro-Amate, San Pablo or Triana many buildings keep their original system: an aluminium panel, an old power supply and multi-wire cabling up the stairs. When a part fails, sometimes no spare exists any more and it is better to renew the panel and the power supply while keeping the cabling.
- Buildings that want video entry. It is the upgrade owners’ meetings approve most often. If the cabling allows it, the panel is replaced and each neighbour decides whether to fit a monitor or keep a compatible handset.
- Street doors with no access control. In large buildings, such as those in Dos Hermanas or Nervión, owners ask to replace keys with cards so a lost card can be cancelled without changing the lock. If you would rather control a single door from your phone, see smart locks.
- Villas and townhouses. A doorbell at the gate that opens the pedestrian door and, if the gate is motorised, integration with its control unit. Motorised gates are covered under automatic gates.
How we work
- You tell us what fails and since when; a photo of the panel and the handset tells us the brand and the system.
- We test the system in your home, on the stairs and at the panel to locate the fault.
- We give you a fixed price, separating the part that belongs to the home from the part that belongs to the comunidad.
- We repair or replace the part and test calling, audio and opening from every affected home.
If the fault leaves the whole building without service, it is part of our work on building maintenance.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my intercom not work?
The most frequent causes are a faulty handset, a cut cable or a loose joint in the junction box on the stairs, a failing power supply or an entrance panel damaged by damp. If it fails only in your flat, the problem is usually in your handset or its cable; if it fails in the whole building, in the panel or the power supply.
How much does it cost to replace the intercom handset?
Replacing a handset with another compatible with the building's system costs a guide 60 to 120 euros plus 21 % VAT, depending on the model. First we check the brand and the system of the entrance panel so the new one works with the other homes without touching anything communal.
The door release buzzes but the door will not open. What is wrong?
It may be the electric strike of the street door itself, worn or out of adjustment; the button on your handset; or the power supply feeding the door release. If you hear the buzz but the door does not give, it is usually the strike or the door alignment. If you hear nothing at all, we look at the power supply and the cabling.
Who pays for repairing the door entry system?
The entrance panel, the power supply, the door release and the cabling on the stairs are common elements, so the comunidad (the owners' association) pays. The handset in each flat is usually paid by its owner. If it is not clear where the fault is, we locate it and tell you who it belongs to.
Can I upgrade to a video entry system?
Yes. In a detached house, an installed video door entry system costs a guide 250 to 600 euros plus VAT. In an apartment building it depends on the number of homes and whether the existing cabling can be reused. It is the upgrade owners' meetings approve most often.
Can the street door open with a card or my phone?
Yes, with access control: a proximity reader, a keypad or opening from an app, with user management to add or remove each neighbour. As a reference, it costs 400 to 1,500 euros plus VAT per entrance, depending on the system and the number of users. It is handy for holiday lets, because you can give guests access and remove it when they leave.
