Second opinion on electrician quotes in Seville, Spain and technical advice
A second opinion on an electrician quote in Spain helps you find out whether what you are offered is what you need, whether it is complete and whether the price is reasonable. In Seville we review the quote item by item, compare it with what the regulations require and explain it in plain terms, with no obligation to hire us for the work.

What a second opinion on an electrician quote is for
An electrical quote is full of terms you have no reason to know: cable cross-section, type A RCD, IGA (main switch), circuit C13, builder’s work, Industry fees (tasas de Industria). When you are looking at a substantial figure, such as rewiring the installation, a new fuse board, an EV charging point or solar panels, it is normal to wonder whether it is what you need and whether the price is reasonable. For a foreign owner, add a quote in a language and a system you are still getting used to.
A second opinion on an electrician quote is for exactly that: a technician reviews the document, explains what is included and what is missing, and tells you whether the proposed solution meets the Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulation (REBT). It is not about finding fault with anyone, but about you understanding what you are going to sign.
What we check in a quote
- The scope. Exactly what is being done: the whole installation, just the fuse board, just some circuits.
- The quantities. Number of light points and sockets, metres of cable, circuits planned.
- The materials. Cable sizes, type and rating of the protective devices, brand or range of switches and sockets.
- Compliance. Whether the solution meets the regulations: 30 mA RCDs in homes (ITC-BT-25), separate circuits, earthing.
- What is often left out. Boletín and fees, technical design report, builder’s work, removal of rubble, legalisation with the Junta de Andalucía.
- The price. Whether it is within market ranges for that job, and whether it includes VAT or not.
When it is worth asking for one
- Rewiring a whole flat. On the market it ranges from 3,600 to 6,500 euros plus VAT for 70 to 100 m², and quotes can differ widely depending on scope. Details in rewiring old apartments.
- Kitchen and bathroom renovations with the electrics included in an overall building quote. See bathroom electrics.
- EV charging point at a house or in a communal garage, where the distance to the meter, the chosen layout and whether you need more power all matter. See home EV charger installation.
- Solar panels, when you are not sure the proposed size matches your consumption. See solar panels.
- When you are told everything must be replaced and you do not know whether an upgrade would be enough.
How we work
- You send us the quote and some photos of the fuse board and the area of the work. You can do it through our online quote page.
- We review it item by item.
- We explain it in writing or on a call: what is right, what is missing, what to ask and what price range is reasonable.
- Visit, if needed, to check on site what the quote takes for granted.
Technical advice and support
Besides reviewing quotes, we advise you before a renovation, explain what the regulations require in your case and accompany you at an inspection or a meeting with the installer or the community of owners. If the dispute already exists and you need a signed opinion, the right service is the electrical expert report.
A typical case
A homeowner in Tomares receives two quotes for a car charger, and one costs almost twice the other. Side by side, it becomes clear that the cheap one includes neither the boletín nor the cable from the garage meter, while the expensive one also includes a surge protector and load management to avoid increasing the power. With the explanation, the homeowner asks the first installer to complete the quote and decides with both on equal terms.

Frequently asked questions
How can I tell whether an electrician's quote in Spain is right?
A proper quote states what will be done, with which materials, how many points or metres, which protective devices go in the fuse board, whether the boletín and fees are included, whether the builder's work (ayudas de albañilería) is included and whether the price includes VAT (IVA) or not. If any of that is missing, it is not necessarily expensive, but it cannot be compared.
How much does the second opinion cost?
As a market estimate, 50 to 100 euros plus 21 % VAT per consultation. If reviewing the document and some photos is enough, it is at the low end. If we need to visit the installation to check what is proposed, it goes up. We tell you the price before starting.
Do I have to hire you for the work afterwards?
No. The second opinion is an independent service: we tell you what we see and you decide who does the work. If you later want a quote from us, we prepare it separately, but the aim of the consultation is that you make a good decision, whoever you choose.
What if two quotes are very different?
First check that they quote for the same thing. The difference is often in the scope: one rewires the whole installation and the other only the fuse board, one includes the boletín and the builder's work and the other does not, one fits type A RCDs and the other class AC. We put the two side by side and explain where the difference comes from.
I own a property in Seville but live abroad. Can you check a quote remotely?
Yes. Send us the quote and photos of the fuse board and the area of the work, and we review it from the documents. If something can only be checked on site, a key holder, tenant or property manager can let us in. You receive the explanation in writing, so you can decide without travelling.
Can you come with me to an inspection or a meeting with the installer?
Yes. We can accompany you at an inspection by a control body, a site visit or a meeting with the installer or the community of owners, so you have someone beside you who understands the technical side. It is quoted according to the time and travel involved.
