TV aerial installer in Seville, Spain for flats, villas and apartment buildings

When the TV goes black, shows a “no signal” message or the picture breaks up into squares, the problem is almost never the television itself. It is the aerial, the amplifier or a section of the cable that runs down from the roof. As TV aerial installers in Seville we do three things: find where the signal is lost, repair or replace whatever has failed and leave every socket with good reception.

In Spain, free-to-air digital television is called TDT (televisión digital terrestre), broadly the equivalent of Freeview in the UK. We work on TDT aerials and on satellite dishes, both on a single home and on the communal aerial of a block of flats.

What the service includes

  • New TDT aerial installation, with mast, anchoring, amplifier and distribution to the sockets in the home.
  • Alignment and tuning with a signal meter, so the aerial points where the signal is best and not where it looks right by eye.
  • Satellite dish: mounting, pointing at the satellite and connecting the receiver, on your own home or as a communal dish.
  • Repair of the building’s communal aerial: head-end, amplifiers, power supplies, splitters and shared cabling.
  • New or relocated TV sockets when you move the TV to another room or hang it on the wall. If you want no cables on show, see hiding cables.

Typical cases in Seville

  • Blocks from the 1960s and 1970s. In buildings in Nervión, La Macarena, El Cerro or Triana, the communal aerial is often decades old: corroded connectors, cable dried out by the sun on the roof and amplifiers replaced over the years with no plan. Here it pays to check the whole head-end rather than patching one socket at a time.
  • Villas and townhouses in the Aljarafe. In Tomares, Mairena del Aljarafe or Bormujos the aerial is often on the roof without firm anchoring and the wind knocks it out of line. We are also often asked for a TV socket on the porch or by the pool.
  • New-build homes. New buildings are handed over with their shared telecoms infrastructure; what is usually needed is extra sockets or a fix for weak reception in one room. If the fault is in the common part of the building, see building telecoms (ICT).
  • After a storm. If every TV in the building loses signal at once, the fault is on the roof: an aerial that has moved or an amplifier burnt out by a lightning surge.

How we work

  1. You tell us the symptom: which channels fail, on which televisions and since when. A photo of the aerial or the amplifier already helps us point you in the right direction.
  2. We measure the signal at your socket, at the junction box on your floor and at the aerial, to locate the exact section where it is lost.
  3. We give you a fixed price before touching anything, separating what belongs to you from what belongs to the comunidad (the owners’ association).
  4. We repair or install the aerial, the amplifier or the cabling, and align it with the meter.
  5. We retune the televisions and check every socket before we leave.

Regulations

Communal aerials are part of a building’s shared telecoms infrastructure, regulated in Spain by Royal Decree 346/2011 (the ICT Regulation) and Order ITC/1644/2011, which develops it. In apartment buildings, any change to the head-end respects the existing distribution so that no neighbour loses their signal.

If you manage a building, everything we do for comunidades is under homeowners’ associations, and the rest of our signal and security work is under telecoms and security.

Frequently asked questions

Why are some TV channels missing?

The usual culprits are an aerial knocked out of alignment by the wind, a faulty amplifier, a corroded connector or a damaged cable on the way down from the roof. Sometimes the television simply needs retuning. We measure the signal at the aerial and at your socket to find exactly where it is lost, and replace only the part that has failed.

How much does it cost to install a TV aerial in Seville, Spain?

As a market reference, an aerial for a detached house costs about 200 euros and the labour for an outdoor aerial about 75 euros, plus 21 % VAT. In an apartment building, the communal TDT aerial costs about 160 euros on average and can reach 400 euros depending on the number of homes and the state of the distribution.

Who pays for repairing the aerial in a block of flats?

The comunidad (the owners' association of the building) pays. The communal aerial, the head-end amplifier and the shared cabling are common elements. Everything from the socket of your own flat inwards is your responsibility. If in doubt, we measure at the junction box on your floor and make the split clear.

Can I put a satellite dish on my flat?

Yes. The tidiest option is a communal dish on the roof with distribution to the homes that want it, at about 150 euros plus VAT as a reference. If you prefer it on your terrace or balcony, we anchor it securely, point it at the satellite you need and run the cable to the receiver without leaving it hanging down the facade.

Do I need to retune the TV after changing the aerial?

Usually yes. After aligning the aerial or replacing the amplifier, each television should run an automatic channel search so it stores the channels with the new signal. We do it at the end on the sets you point out and show you how to repeat it if a channel ever disappears.

Can storms damage the aerial?

Yes. Strong wind moves the aerial or bends the mast, and a nearby lightning strike can burn out the amplifier or its power supply. If every television in the building loses channels at the same time after a storm, the fault is usually in the head-end on the roof, not in your set.

I rent my villa out to holidaymakers. Can you add a TV socket on the porch?

Yes. A TV socket on the porch or next to the pool is one of the jobs we are asked for most in Aljarafe villas. We run the cable from the existing distribution and check the signal level at the new point before we leave, so your guests can watch from outside.
