Contracted power review in Seville, Spain: pay only for the potencia you use
We carry out a contracted power review in Seville, Spain based on data, not guesswork: we measure your real consumption peaks and adjust the peak and off-peak power of the 2.0TD tariff so you do not pay for potencia contratada (contracted power) you never use, and the limiter does not keep cutting your supply. Ideal before adding an induction hob, air conditioning or an EV charger.

Contracted power review in Seville, Spain: a saving that does not depend on using less
On a Spanish electricity bill you pay for two things: the energy you consume and the power you have contracted, whether you use it or not. That second item is the potencia contratada, the maximum power in kW your home can draw at once. A contracted power review in Seville, Spain matches it to what your home really needs. On the 2.0TD tariff the power charge costs roughly 30 euros per kW per year in access tolls, so having 2 kW too many means paying every year for nothing. Having too little means the supply cuts out every time the oven, the washing machine and the air conditioning coincide.
How power works on the 2.0TD tariff
The 2.0TD is the standard tariff for homes and small supplies in Spain. In practice:
- Two power levels: one for the peak period (P1) and one for the off-peak period (P2). They can be different.
- Off-peak (valle) includes nights, from 0:00 to 8:00, and weekends, when it is usually cheaper to charge the car or run appliances.
- The limiter, the old ICP now built into the smart meter, cuts the supply when you exceed your contracted power. Everything goes off, you unplug the kettle and press the button on the meter: most foreign residents live that scene in their first week.
- Common steps: 4.6 kW, 5.75 kW, 6.9 kW or 9.2 kW, among others.
Access tolls and charges are set by CNMC Circular 3/2020 (the Spanish energy regulator) and Royal Decree 148/2021.
What we do
- We review your bills and the power contracted in each period.
- We measure your real peaks with a monitor in the consumer unit for a few days, day and night. If you want to keep watching afterwards, we leave it installed with its app: see energy monitoring.
- We check the installation: main switch, individual supply cable (derivación individual) and consumer unit, in case anything needs upgrading before an increase.
- We recommend the peak and off-peak power, with the annual saving or cost of each option.
- If you need more, we issue the boletín and deal with the distributor through increase contracted power.
Typical cases in Seville
- Flats in Nervión or Triana with power contracted decades ago that nobody has reviewed: sometimes there is too much and sometimes the limiter trips every summer.
- Homes in Sevilla Este or Dos Hermanas moving to induction and aerothermal heat pumps: before increasing blindly, measure.
- Houses with an electric car in Mairena del Aljarafe or Alcalá de Guadaíra: raise only the off-peak power, or charge with dynamic load balancing without touching the power.
- Holiday homes used part of the year, where the power was set for a family that no longer lives there and is paid for every month.
Tariff and time periods
As well as the power, we go through which periods you consume in, so you can move whatever possible to the off-peak hours: washing machine, dishwasher, water heater or charging the car. The 2.0TD has peak, standard and off-peak energy bands (punta, llano and valle). We give you your consumption by period so you can compare tariffs from different suppliers (comercializadoras) with good judgement. For businesses, power is studied as part of an energy audit, and if you want to cut the energy part of the bill too, look at solar panels. Frequently asked questions
What potencia do I need in my home in Spain?
Enough to cover your home's real peaks, when the appliances that use the most run at the same time, with a small margin. Many homes have more than they use and others less than they need. That is why we measure your power peaks for a few days before recommending one specific figure for peak and another for off-peak.
Can I have one power level for the day and another for the night?
Yes. On the 2.0TD tariff you contract two power levels: one for the peak period (P1) and one for the off-peak period (P2), which includes nights and weekends. Many homes with an electric car raise only the off-peak power to charge at night and keep the peak power low.
How much will I save by lowering my contracted power?
The power charge is paid even if you consume nothing, and costs roughly 30 euros per kW per year in 2.0TD access tolls (peajes). Lowering 1 or 2 kW you do not use is a fixed saving every year. The key is not to lower it too far, because then the limiter cuts the supply at the worst moment.
What if the power keeps cutting out after I lower it?
That is the sign you went too low or too many appliances are running together. With the prior study it should not happen, because the power is chosen from your measured peaks. If it does, the power is adjusted or the loads are spread out, and if you have an EV charger, dynamic load balancing prevents it.
Do I need more power for an electric car?
Not always. With 4.6 kW contracted you cannot charge at 7.4 kW without dynamic load balancing, which reduces the charge when the house is using power. With balancing, you charge with the power left over. Another option is to raise only the off-peak power to charge at night. We tell you which works out better with your data.
How much does the power study cost in Seville, Spain?
As a guide, 50 to 150 euros plus 21 % VAT (60.50 to 181.50 euros in total), depending on how long we measure and whether it includes a check of the installation. If the conclusion is to increase the power and the installation needs work, the upgrade and the boletín (electrical certificate) are quoted separately, always before doing them.

Solar panels for self-consumption
We install solar panels in Seville, Spain and the surrounding province on a turnkey basis: we study your consumption and your roof, fit panels, inverter and protection devices, and handle the legalisation and the compensation for your surplus energy. With Seville's sunshine, each kW installed saves an average of about 189 euros a year.
Energy audit
We carry out a business energy audit in Seville, Spain: we measure consumption, find where the energy goes and propose LED, controls, solar self-consumption, reactive power compensation and power adjustment, each measure with its cost, saving and payback period. We also arrange energy performance certificates for homes.
Energy monitor
We install a home energy monitor in your consumer unit in Seville, Spain so you can see on your phone, in real time, how much the house and each circuit uses: the air conditioning, the kitchen, the water heater or the EV charger. You spot waste, check what your solar panels produce and find out what potencia contratada (contracted power) you really need.
Increase contracted power
You need to increase your electricity power in Spain when the smart meter cuts everything off as soon as the air conditioning, the oven and the washing machine run together. We check what power your installation can take, upgrade the supply cable, main switch and fuse board if needed, and issue the boletín so the distributor approves the increase.
Power limiter tripping
If your smart meter keeps cutting the power when you switch several things on at once, the ICP power limiter is tripping because you are exceeding your contracted power (potencia contratada). We review your consumption and your installation and tell you whether organising your appliances is enough or whether it is worth increasing the power in Seville, Spain.
Dynamic load balancing
EV charger dynamic load balancing in Seville, Spain measures what your home is using in real time and adjusts the charger so you never exceed your contracted power (potencia contratada). You charge the car without paying for more power and without the power limiter cutting everything off when the oven or the air conditioning comes on.
