Glossary

Peak, standard and off-peak periods (punta, llano y valle)

The three price bands of the 2.0TD tariff: off-peak (valle), 0 to 8 h plus all weekend and national holidays; peak (punta), 10 to 14 h and 18 to 22 h on weekdays; and standard (llano), the remaining hours.

Punta, llano and valle on the 2.0TD

These are the three bands into which the 2.0TD tariff divides the energy you use. Each kWh costs a different amount depending on when you use it, and your smart meter records the time of each one. They are the “Punta”, “Llano” and “Valle” lines on an Endesa or any other Spanish bill.

What to move to off-peak

  • The electric car. The biggest load you can move: at 7.4 kW, a 60 kWh battery goes from 20 to 80 % in about 5 hours, within off-peak. On dedicated tariffs, the off-peak kWh costs 0.08 to 0.15 euros in 2026.
  • The electric water heater, with a time switch in the fuse box so it only heats overnight.
  • Washing machine, dishwasher and tumble dryer, with delayed start.
  • The pool pump, scheduled for off-peak hours.

Off-peak on the PVPC too

On the regulated PVPC the price changes every hour, but the 2.0TD toll still applies, so off-peak hours are usually also the cheapest. With single fixed-price contracts, the time barely changes the price: compare before reorganising your habits.

When to call an electrician

Scheduling the water heater or car charging needs a time switch, a smart charger or a well prepared circuit. See home EV charger for houses in Seville, Spain.
