Retail and office lighting in Seville, Spain: light sells too

In a business, lighting does three jobs at once: it draws people in from the street, shows the product well and lets the team work comfortably. Retail and office lighting in Seville also comes with rules: light levels by task, emergency lighting in premises open to the public and controls so energy is not wasted. What we install:

  • Tracks with adjustable spotlights for displays, rails and shelving, which move when you rearrange the shop.
  • LED panels and linear fittings in offices, clinics and academies.
  • Downlights in corridors, toilets and fitting rooms.
  • Shop window lighting with narrow-beam floodlights.
  • Atmosphere in hospitality: warm dimmable light in the dining room and task lighting at the bar and in the kitchen.
  • Emergency lighting and exit signs.

Standards we apply

  • UNE-EN 12464-1, on lighting of workplaces, for the light levels in each area.
  • ITC-BT-28 of the Spanish Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulation, on premises open to the public (pública concurrencia).
  • Spanish Building Code (CTE): section HE3 on lighting efficiency and DB-SUA 4 for emergency lighting, with UNE-EN 1838:2025.

If you are opening a business, the lighting is part of the electrical paperwork for the business opening licence, and we coordinate it with the shop and office electrics.

Premises in Seville and what they need

  • Shops in the city centre and the historic quarter: narrow, deep premises, sometimes in old buildings with high ceilings and beams, where a track lets you light the space without touching the ceiling.
  • Shops and offices in Nervión and Los Remedios: switching from fluorescent tubes and halogens to LED, with immediate savings.
  • Bars and restaurants in Triana: warm light in the dining room, dimming by scenes and well-integrated emergency lighting. For the power side, see bars and restaurants.
  • Units in shopping centres and business parks in Dos Hermanas or Mairena del Aljarafe, under the technical conditions of each centre.

How we work

  1. We visit the premises and talk about what you sell, your opening hours and the image you want.
  2. We calculate the lighting for each area. On large projects, with a full lighting design study.
  3. Fixed quote with fittings, controls and emergency lighting.
  4. Installation by zones outside opening hours.
  5. Final adjustment: aiming the spotlights, setting scenes and testing the emergency lighting.

Frequently asked questions

How many lux does a shop or office need?

It depends on the task carried out in each area, and the UNE-EN 12464-1 standard on lighting of workplaces sets it: an office desk does not need the same light as a storeroom or a corridor. We calculate the levels for each space with lighting software, so you are not left short and you do not install more power than you need.

What colour temperature works best in a shop?

It depends on what you sell. Warm light, 2,700 to 3,000 K, creates atmosphere in restaurants, fashion or home decor shops. Neutral light, around 4,000 K, suits offices, pharmacies or shops where seeing detail matters. The colour rendering index (CRI) also counts, so the colours of your products look true.

Is emergency lighting compulsory in my business premises?

In premises open to the public (locales de pública concurrencia), such as bars, shops or offices that serve customers, yes. It is required by ITC-BT-28 and by section DB-SUA 4 of the Spanish Building Code, with UNE-EN 1838:2025 for the levels along escape routes. We install it together with the normal lighting, at 40 to 90 euros plus VAT per fitting as a guide (48.40 to 108.90 euros in total).

How much does it cost to light a shop in Seville, Spain?

It is quoted per project according to the floor area, the type of fittings and the controls. As market references, an installed downlight costs 25 to 60 euros plus 21 % VAT per point (30.25 to 72.60 euros in total) and an emergency light 40 to 90 euros plus VAT. With the lighting study done, the quote is fixed with no surprises.

Can the lighting be changed without closing the business?

Almost always. We plan the work by zones and outside opening hours, at night or on your day off, so you open as normal. In offices, floor by floor or room by room. Beforehand we give you a schedule so you know which area is being worked on each day.

What does the Spanish Building Code require for commercial lighting?

Section HE3 of the Código Técnico de la Edificación (CTE, the Spanish Building Code) requires energy efficiency in the lighting of non-residential buildings: limited installed power and control systems, such as presence detectors or dimming according to daylight. We solve it at the design stage so the premises comply and use less electricity.
