Light fitting and ceiling light installation in Seville, Spain
A lighting electrician in Seville, Spain to hang your pendant lights, ceiling lights, wall lights and designer fittings: we fix them securely to the ceiling or wall, connect them with their earth and check that everything works. It is the job most requested when moving into a new home, because new builds in Spain are handed over without light fittings.

Lighting electrician in Seville: what we do
Hanging a light looks easy until you find a false ceiling that will not hold the weight, a cable with no earth or a connection box that does not fit inside the ceiling rose. Our job is to make sure every light is securely fixed, properly connected and with no cables on show, and to do it all on the same visit.
We fit all kinds of lighting:
- Pendant lights, from simple single-bulb pendants to chandeliers and designer fittings with several arms.
- Ceiling lights (flush and semi-flush), LED or with lamp holders, for corridors, bedrooms, kitchens and bathrooms.
- Wall lights in bedrooms, next to the headboard, on stairs, terraces and facades.
- Designer and track lighting, adjustable spotlights and pendants over the kitchen island or the dining table.
- Ceiling fans with lights, with reinforced fixing and their remote control. They are a very popular job in Seville before the summer.
If what you want is spotlights recessed into the ceiling, that is a different job with its own page: downlights installation.
New flats without light fittings: moving in with light
New-build homes in Seville are handed over with an elevated electrification level and light points in every room, but no light fittings: in the ceiling there is only a cable or a lamp holder. The specifications of the developers that build most in the area, such as Metrovacesa, Habitat, Insur or Aedas, confirm it. That is why, in the first weeks after receiving the keys, almost every buyer looks for an electrician to put up the lights before moving in. It is what we do most in the developments of Entrenúcleos (Dos Hermanas), Palmas Altas and Isla Natura, Jardines Hacienda del Rosario in Sevilla Este, Cruz del Campo and the new estates of Mairena del Aljarafe and Tomares. Ideally it is done with the home empty, before the furniture arrives: the work is faster and cleaner and the ladder goes wherever it is needed. If you leave the fittings in each room, in most flats we leave the whole home lit in one morning.
While we are there, many families add what the developer did not include: a socket next to the bed, another on the terrace for a floor lamp or a fan, a light point above the island or a two-way switch in the corridor. Our new-build section lists what is usually missing when you receive the keys, with pages for Entrenúcleos and Palmas Altas and Isla Natura.
What the installation of each light includes
- Assembly of the fitting if it comes in pieces, following the manufacturer’s instructions.
- A fixing suited to the ceiling or wall: chemical or metal anchor in concrete, plasterboard anchor, reinforcement for heavy lights or fans.
- Connection with a connector block or terminal in a box hidden by the ceiling rose, never with tape.
- Earth connection on metal fittings that need it.
- Functional test with the switch and, if there is one, with the dimmer.
- Removal of the old fitting and the packaging if you ask us to.
Choosing the right light fitting
You do not need to be an interior designer to get it right, but three figures on the box of the fitting or the bulb are worth checking:
- Lumens. They tell you how much light it gives, not the watts. A kitchen or a bathroom needs more light than a bedroom.
- Colour temperature, in kelvin. Warm light feels cosier in living rooms and bedrooms; neutral light helps you work in the kitchen, bathroom or a study. Mixing temperatures in the same room usually looks wrong.
- Colour rendering index (CRI). The higher it is, the more natural colours look, which you notice in the kitchen, the dressing room and in front of the mirror.
If your old fittings use halogen or fluorescent lamps, it is a good moment to switch them to LED.
How we work
- You send us photos of the ceilings and the fittings, or a list of how many there are and where they go.
- We give you a price per fitting and the total, with any extras (height, plasterboard, new points) shown.
- We set the day, usually before the move if it is a new home.
- We fit and test each light, and show you how any dimmer or remote control works.
- We leave the home clean and you get an invoice detailing what was installed.

Regulations and safety
Light fittings are lighting loads, and their installation is governed by ITC-BT-44 of the Spanish Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulation. In practice this means fixing the fitting securely, connecting the protective conductor on fittings that have one and making sure no terminal is accessible. In bathrooms the protection zones set by ITC-BT-27 around the shower and the bath also apply, with fittings of the right IP rating.
Before touching anything we switch off the circuit and check that there is no voltage. If when we open the light point we find cables with no earth, old joints or a circuit that heats up, we tell you and suggest the solution.
Lights in older flats, villas and shops
- Flats from the 1960s to the 1980s in Nervión, Triana or Los Remedios: high ceilings, sometimes with mouldings, and light points with no earth. We work carefully so as not to damage the ceiling and, if needed, improve the connection. More on Nervión and Triana.
- Villas and townhouses in the Aljarafe: facade and porch wall lights, garden lanterns and terrace lights, with fittings suitable for outdoor use. More on Tomares and Mairena del Aljarafe.
- Shops and offices: track spotlights for shop windows, pendants over counters and ceiling lights in offices, coordinated with the rest of the business lighting.
If you want to control lights in scenes from your phone or by voice, we leave the fittings ready for a smart home installation. And if you have another small job at home, such as changing a socket or a switch, we sort it out on the same visit as part of our small electrical jobs. All lighting options are under lighting.

Frequently asked questions
How much does an electrician charge to hang a light in Seville, Spain?
Between 30 and 50 euros plus 21 % VAT per fitting (36.30 to 60.50 euros in total) when the light point already exists and the job is to fix, connect and test. Very heavy fittings, chandeliers with many arms or lights at a great height take longer and are quoted separately. If you order several on the same visit, the price per unit goes down.
Why does my new flat in Spain have no light fittings?
Because developers in Seville hand over homes with light points in every room, but only with the bare cable or a lamp holder, without fittings. It is common in the specifications of developments in Entrenúcleos, Palmas Altas or Sevilla Este, and each owner chooses and puts up their own when they move in.
Can I hang a light myself?
If it is a light fitting on an existing light point and you know how to switch off the circuit, it is a simple job. But the earth must be connected properly on metal fittings, the fixing must hold the weight in your type of ceiling and no terminals can be left exposed. If you have any doubts, it is better to call an electrician.
Can a heavy light be hung from a plasterboard ceiling?
Yes, but not from the plasterboard alone. The fixing has to go into the concrete slab or a structural profile, or a specific plasterboard anchor can be used when the weight allows. For large fittings we check the ceiling first and tell you which fixing we will use and why.
What light can I put in the bathroom?
A fitting with the degree of protection against water that matches the bathroom zone where it goes, because the regulation divides the bathroom into zones according to their distance from the shower or bath. Next to the shower, not just any ceiling light will do. We advise you based on where the light point is.
Do you install ceiling fans?
Yes. We replace the light with the fan, reinforce the fixing so it does not wobble and connect the remote control or the speed controller. It is a very popular job in Seville before the summer, and the guide price is 50 to 90 euros plus VAT per fan if the light point is already in the ceiling.
What if I want a light where there is no light point?
We create a new point from the nearest lighting circuit, with its switch or two-way switch. A simple fitting costs 30 to 50 euros plus VAT, and a new line chased into the wall 80 to 150 euros plus VAT depending on the route. In false ceilings it is usually done without building work.
Can I dim the lights?
Yes, as long as the fitting or the LED bulb is dimmable and the dimmer is compatible with it. If they are not, the light flickers or buzzes. We help you choose the right dimmer or leave the fitting ready to be controlled from your phone with a smart home system.
Do you take away the old lights and the packaging?
Yes. We take down the old fittings, leave the ceiling ready for the new one and take the packaging away if you ask us to. If the old fittings are fluorescent or equipment that must go to a recycling point, we tell you or handle it ourselves.
