LED lighting
LED lighting upgrade for homes and apartment buildings in Seville, Spain
An LED lighting upgrade in your home or building in Seville, Spain cuts lighting consumption by up to 80 % compared with halogen. We replace halogen, fluorescent and incandescent lamps with LED, change any transformers and drivers that need it and leave every room with the right light.

Why an LED lighting upgrade pays off
If your home still has halogens in the kitchen, fluorescent tubes in the bathroom or incandescent bulbs in the hallway, you are paying for more electricity than you need. An LED lamp uses up to 80 % less than a halogen lamp for the same light and lasts 15,000 to 25,000 hours, so as well as saving on your bill you stop changing bulbs every few months. LEDs also do not heat the ceiling the way halogens do, which you will appreciate in a Seville kitchen in July.
An LED lighting upgrade in Seville makes particular sense in flats from the 1960s to the 1980s in Nervión, Los Remedios, Triana, La Macarena or Heliópolis, where 12 V halogen spotlights with transformers, fluorescent tubes in kitchens and bathrooms and old-style lamp holders are everywhere.
What exactly we change
- 12 V halogens (dichroic spotlights). We replace the lamp and remove or change the transformer, which is usually why LEDs flicker or fail early.
- 230 V halogens and incandescent bulbs. An equivalent LED is enough, choosing the right lumens and colour temperature.
- Fluorescent tubes. We remove the ballast and starter so direct mains LED tubes can be connected, or replace the batten with a complete LED panel.
- Old downlights. If the spotlight has yellowed or the recessed fitting is damaged, we replace the whole unit with a new LED downlight.
- Lamps and ceiling lights. If you would rather renew the whole fitting instead of just the lamp, we install and connect it with its earth connection.
Lumens, kelvin and colour rendering
With LED you no longer compare by watts but by lumens (the amount of light). To get the tone right, look at the kelvin: 2,700 to 3,000 K is warm light for living rooms and bedrooms, 4,000 K is neutral for kitchens and bathrooms, and 5,000 to 6,500 K is cool, only for garages or storerooms. In kitchens, bathrooms and dressing rooms, ask for a good colour rendering index (CRI, IRC in Spanish) so colours look as they really are. We advise you room by room so you do not end up with a home lit like a hospital.
Apartment buildings: stairwells, entrance halls and garages
LED lighting in a block of flats in Seville is one of the improvements that pays for itself fastest, because communal areas clock up many hours of light. We replace stairwell ceiling lights, entrance hall wall lights and garage battens with LED fittings, and if we combine them with motion sensors, the light only comes on when someone passes. This work fits with our communal area lighting service for the comunidad (the community of owners).
In garages, we take the opportunity to check the emergency lighting and signage the garage needs by law. See emergency lighting.
How we work
- We walk through the home or building and count the light points, the lamp type and whether there are transformers, ballasts or dimmers.
- We propose lamps or fittings with their lumens, colour temperature and price, and tell you what saving to expect.
- We carry out the change, removing surplus transformers and gear and checking that nothing flickers.
- We take away the old material for recycling.
Regulations
Fittings and their connection comply with ITC-BT-44 of the Spanish Low Voltage Electrical Regulations on lighting equipment, and the lamps comply with the European Ecodesign Directive. In communal areas of buildings and in business premises we also take into account ITC-BT-28 and the lighting efficiency requirement of the Spanish Building Code (CTE HE 3).

Frequently asked questions
How much do you save by switching to LED?
An LED lamp uses up to 80 % less than a halogen lamp giving the same light, and lasts 15,000 to 25,000 hours. The real saving on your bill depends on how many hours a day each light is on: in kitchens, hallways and communal areas that stay lit for long periods you notice it straight away.
Is changing the bulb enough, or does something else need changing?
It depends. With a standard lamp holder, the bulb is enough. With 12 V halogens the transformer has to be checked or removed, and with fluorescents it is best to remove the ballast and starter or replace the whole fitting. Done badly, this causes flickering and early failures.
Which LED light should I choose, warm or cool?
Warm light, 2,700 to 3,000 K, in the living room and bedrooms, and neutral light, 4,000 K, in the kitchen, bathroom and work areas. Cool light of 5,000 to 6,500 K is for garages or storerooms, not living spaces. It is best to keep the same tone throughout a room so there are no spotlights of different colours.
Can I use LED with my existing dimmer?
Not always. Old dimmers designed for incandescent bulbs make many LEDs flicker or buzz. You need dimmable lamps or drivers and a compatible dimmer. We tell you what to change, the dimmer, the lamp or the driver, so dimming works smoothly across its whole range.
How much does it cost to switch a home to LED?
A complete home costs about 450 euros plus 21 % VAT on average, depending on the number of light points and whether transformers, drivers or whole fittings have to be changed. In communities it is priced per light point, and with a motion sensor added, 40 to 90 euros plus VAT per point.
Is it worth switching the communal areas of the building to LED?
Yes, especially stairwells, entrance halls and garages, which clock up many hours of light. Combined with motion sensors, the comunidad's lighting bill drops considerably, and LED fittings also mean fewer maintenance visits to change lamps. We price it per light point so the owners can compare.
I have just bought an older flat in Seville. Should I upgrade the lighting before moving in?
It is the easiest moment, with the rooms empty. Older flats often have 12 V halogens with transformers and fluorescent tubes in the kitchen and bathroom. We change them in one visit and, if you are also renovating, coordinate it with the rest of the electrical work.
