MOVES III (Spanish electric mobility grant scheme)

The national electric mobility grant scheme (Royal Decree 266/2021) that subsidised cars and charging points in Spain from 2021 to 2025. Applications closed on 31 December 2025; in 2026 the 15 % income tax (IRPF) deduction remains.

What MOVES III was

MOVES III was the national electric mobility incentive scheme in Spain, set out in Royal Decree 266/2021 and run by the regional governments. It subsidised buying electric vehicles and installing charging points. For individuals, self-employed people and homeowners’ associations it covered 70 % of the cost of a charging point, and 80 % in towns with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants.

MOVES III closed on 31 December 2025

In Andalusia, the Andalusian Energy Agency accepted applications from 15 July to 31 December 2025. In February 2026 the Junta added funding, but only to clear the reserve list: no new window opened. Anyone granted aid must justify it by 31 December 2026 at the latest. If you see a 2026 advert offering MOVES III for your charger, it is out of date.

Its successor, the Programa Auto+ (Royal Decree 609/2026), only subsidises vehicles. Home wallboxes are excluded.

What remains in 2026: the IRPF deduction

The help still available to individuals is the 15 % income tax (IRPF) deduction for installing a charging point, extended to 31 December 2026 by Royal Decree-law 7/2026:

  • Maximum base of 4,000 euros, so a maximum saving of 600 euros.
  • The installation must be finished by 31 December 2026.
  • In a property you own (home or parking space), not used for a business.
  • Non-cash payment and an invoice from a registered installation company, with its boletín.

It is an IRPF deduction, so it only helps if you pay Spanish income tax as a resident.
