What a wallbox is

A wallbox is the wall charger installed in your parking space or garage to charge an electric car. It charges in mode 3: alternating current with constant communication with the car, which will not start charging until the cable is properly connected and locked. Wallbox is also the name of a Barcelona manufacturer, but the word is used for any wall charger.

Tethered or socket

A wallbox with a built-in cable of 5 to 7 metres is the most convenient at home. One with a Type 2 socket is more versatile in communal garages and businesses, because each user brings their own cable. Smart models add an app, off-peak scheduling, dynamic load balancing, RFID or OCPP. We install units from Wallbox, V2C, Circutor, Tesla and Schneider, among others.

Price in 2026

The unit costs roughly 300 to 800 euros in the basic range and 800 to 2,500 euros in the smart range. A complete single-phase installation at a detached house, with charger, circuit, protection and boletín, costs 800 to 1,600 euros.

When to call an electrician

A wallbox needs a dedicated circuit, a type A RCD with DC detection or a type B, a surge protector and a boletín from a registered company; without the boletín there is no IRPF tax deduction. See home EV charger for houses in Seville, Spain.
