FAQ

Are there grants for installing a home EV charger in Spain in 2026?

In 2026 the only help still available to an individual installing an EV charger in Spain is the 15 % income tax (IRPF) deduction, with a maximum saving of 600 euros, for installations finished before 31 December 2026. MOVES III closed to applications on 31 December 2025 and the Auto+ Programme only subsidises vehicles.

EV charger grants in Spain in 2026: the real picture

Many websites still advertise MOVES III as if it were open. It is not. As of 24 October 2026, this is the situation for an individual:

SchemeStatus in 2026Covers the charger?
MOVES IIIClosed to new applications since 31 December 2025No, for new applications
Auto+ Programme (RD 609/2026)Open, with a limited budgetNo: vehicles only
15 % income tax (IRPF) deductionIn force until 31 December 2026Yes

MOVES III is closed

In Andalusia the call accepted applications from 15 July to 31 December 2025. In February 2026 the Andalusian Energy Agency increased the budget, but only to deal with the reserve list, without opening a new window. If you see a price “with MOVES already deducted”, it is out of date.

The Auto+ Programme is for cars only

The replacement for MOVES III, approved in July 2026, subsidises buying vehicles. The home wallbox is left out: charging has been moved to other programmes aimed at motorways and high-power sites.

The 15 % IRPF deduction, the one that works

After two failed attempts to extend it early in the year, Royal Decree-law 7/2026, validated on 26 March 2026, keeps the deduction until 31 December 2026:

  • 15 % of what you pay for the installation.
  • Maximum base of 4,000 euros: maximum saving of 600 euros.
  • A home or parking space you own, not used for a business activity.
  • Payment not in cash, plus an invoice and boletín (electrical certificate) from a registered installer.
  • The installation must be finished before 31 December 2026.

Other ways to get a discount

Some installers and suppliers pay between 150 and 400 euros per charger installed in exchange for the certified energy saving, through the Ministry’s Energy Saving Certificates (CAE) system. Seville City Council offers no direct grant for chargers in homes or communal buildings.

Businesses

Businesses have other schemes and possible corporate tax deductions, but their scope in 2026 should be confirmed with a tax adviser before deciding.

When to call an electrician

Soon, if you want to qualify for the deduction: between the visit, notifying the comunidad (owners’ association) and the boletín, a communal garage installation can take 6 to 8 weeks.
