Electrical project (proyecto eléctrico, full engineering design)
A technical document signed by a qualified engineer that defines a larger or higher-risk electrical installation before it is built. ITC-BT-04 of the REBT says when it is compulsory; otherwise a technical design report (MTD) is enough.
What an electrical project is
The proyecto eléctrico describes an installation in full detail before it is built: power and cable calculations, single-line diagram, protection, drawings, specifications and budget. It is drawn up and signed by a qualified engineer. When the work is finished, the registered installation company issues the installation certificate (the boletín) and files it with the Junta de Andalucía together with the project.
When it is compulsory
ITC-BT-04 of the Low Voltage Regulations lists the cases. The most common ones in Seville, Spain are:
- Public premises: bars, restaurants, shops, academies or clinics.
- EV charging infrastructure over 50 kW, such as car parks, hubs or large fleets, and outdoor charging over 10 kW.
- Solar installations over 10 kW, common in warehouses and businesses.
- Warehouses and garages above a certain power or use.
In many of these cases the project goes with an initial inspection by an OCA before the installation is switched on.
Project or technical design report
If the installation is not in those cases, a technical design report (memoria técnica de diseño, MTD) is enough: a simpler document on the Junta’s official form, drawn up by the installation company itself. That covers almost all homes, renovations and domestic charging points.
Rough price
Engineering projects have no public fee scale. As a guide, from 400 to 1,500 euros plus VAT depending on the power. The MTD is usually included in the price of the boletín. If you are opening premises, extending a warehouse or adding chargers for your company, ask before buying equipment. See electrical design report and project and business opening licence.
