Variable speed drive installation in Seville, Spain, starter replacement and proper motor protection: we work in warehouses, pumping stations, residential booster pump sets and machinery, fitting drives, soft starters, contactors, motor protection breakers and thermal overload relays, with programming and commissioning.

Variable speed drive installation and motor protection in Seville
Motors drive almost everything that keeps a business running: pumps, compressors, fans, conveyors, extractors, workshop machines. When a motor is poorly protected or starts with a jolt, its life is shortened, and so is the life of everything it drives. We carry out variable speed drive installation, soft starters and motor protection in Seville, Spain, and diagnose motors that will not start, overheat or trip their protection.
What we do
- Variable speed drives for pumps, fans, conveyors, extractors and machines, with programming, ramps and protection.
- Soft starters to limit the current peak and the mechanical shock at start-up.
- Star-delta starters and their replacement with electronic equipment when it makes sense.
- Contactors, motor protection breakers and thermal overload relays, sized to the motor’s real current.
- Diagnosis of motors that will not start, overheat, make noise or trip their protection.
- Motor replacement and connection of the new one, with its direction of rotation and commissioning.
Drive or starter: which suits you
| Need | Solution |
|---|---|
| Start-up causes voltage dips or tripping | Soft starter |
| Mechanical shock or water hammer at start and stop | Soft starter or drive |
| Adjusting the flow of a pump or fan | Variable speed drive |
| Different speed depending on product or process | Variable speed drive |
| Constant pressure in a booster pump set | Drive with a pressure sensor |
In pumps and fans that do not always need to run at full speed, slowing them down with a drive reduces consumption, because this equipment uses much less energy at reduced speed. We study it with your operating hours before recommending it.
When a motor needs checking
- It will not start, or starts and stops straight away.
- The thermal overload or motor protection breaker trips shortly after it starts running.
- It overheats, smells of burning or vibrates.
- It trips the RCD ever since a drive was fitted.
- The lights dim every time it starts.
- Your bill shows reactive energy, a sign of many motors running without power factor correction.
Regulations
- ITC-BT-47: motor installations, sizing of supply lines and protection against overload, short circuit and phase loss.
- UNE-EN 61800: adjustable speed electrical power drive systems, the standard for drives.
Drives and RCDs: how to avoid nuisance tripping
A drive produces small high-frequency leakage currents. With a standard RCD this can cause tripping with no real danger, especially at start-up. The answer is not to remove the protection but to choose the right RCD for the load and take care with wiring and filters. We explain it in high-immunity RCD.
Motors in warehouses, apartment buildings and farms around Seville
- Warehouses and workshops on Seville’s industrial estates, such as PISA in Mairena del Aljarafe, La Isla in Dos Hermanas, Fridex in Alcalá de Guadaíra, Calonge or Carretera Amarilla: compressors, extractors, conveyors and production machines.
- Booster pump sets and pumps in apartment buildings in the city, where a drive keeps pressure steady on every floor.
- Irrigation pumping on farms in the vega and the campiña, from La Rinconada to Utrera or the Vega del Guadalquivir, as we explain in agricultural installations.
If the motor is part of a process with sequences and sensors, we integrate it with a PLC, as in automation and PLC.
How we work
- Motor data: rating plate, application and problem.
- Visit and measurements: voltages, current draw, insulation and condition of the control circuit.
- Proposal: drive, starter or protection, with its position in the board.
- Fixed quote.
- Installation and programming: ramps, limits, protection and signals.
- Commissioning and handover of the documented configuration.

Frequently asked questions
What is a variable speed drive for?
It controls the speed of an AC motor by changing the frequency of its supply. It allows smooth starts, matches the flow of a pump or fan to what is actually needed and protects the motor. In pumps and fans that do not always need to run flat out, lowering the speed saves energy. In American English it is usually called a VFD (variable frequency drive).
Variable speed drive or soft starter?
A soft starter only acts during start-up and stopping: it limits the current peak and the mechanical shock, and then the motor runs at its normal speed. A drive controls the speed all the time. If only the start-up bothers you, a soft starter is enough and simpler and cheaper; if you want to regulate speed, you need a drive.
Why will my three-phase motor not start?
The most common causes are a missing phase, a tripped thermal overload relay or motor protection breaker, a faulty contactor, a burnt-out coil or a fault in the motor itself, such as a shorted winding or seized bearings. We measure voltages, insulation and current draw to find out whether it is the supply, the control circuit or the motor.
Can the drive trip the RCD?
Yes. Drives produce small high-frequency leakage currents that can trip a standard RCD with no real danger. It is solved by choosing the right class of RCD, such as high-immunity (superinmunizado) or type B depending on the case, and by taking care with wiring and filters, without removing protection.
Do you fit drives to the booster pumps of a comunidad?
Yes. A booster pump set with a drive keeps pressure constant on every floor, starts without water hammer and stops when there is no demand. If your building's comunidad (homeowners' association) asks for it, we check the control panel, protection and sensors, and leave the system programmed and documented.

Agricultural installations
A farm electrician in Seville, Spain for agricultural estates: well and irrigation pumping, pump panels with dry-run protection, livestock buildings and stores, electric fencing, pump houses and solar to pump water or live off the grid. We work in the vega, the campiña and the Aljarafe, with legalisation included.
High-immunity RCD
We fit a high-immunity RCD in Seville, Spain when yours trips for no reason with LED lights, the induction hob, inverter air conditioning or the EV charger.
