Off-grid solar in Seville, Spain: power for country houses, plots and buildings with no grid

We install off-grid solar systems in the province of Seville, Spain when there is no grid connection or bringing one in does not pay off: panels, batteries, charge controller and inverter for country houses, plots, farm buildings, wells and caravans, sized for what you will connect and with backup for cloudy days.

Off-grid solar in Seville, Spain: when it is the answer

An off-grid solar installation generates and stores your own electricity without being connected to the distributor’s grid. In the province of Seville, Spain it is the usual solution in these cases:

  • Country houses and cortijos (traditional Andalusian farmhouses) far from the power lines.
  • Leisure plots with a small house, a small pool or a vegetable garden.
  • Farm buildings and storerooms with no supply.
  • Wells and pumps for irrigation.
  • Caravans, sheds and shelters with small loads.

With around 3,000 hours of sunshine a year, Seville has excellent conditions for living on solar energy without the grid. But an off-grid system does not forgive calculation errors: if it falls short, you are left without power.

What an off-grid installation includes

  • Solar panels on the roof or on a ground-mounted frame.
  • Charge controller, which protects the batteries.
  • Batteries, usually lithium, which store energy for the night and cloudy days. More in solar batteries.
  • Inverter, which converts the direct current from panels and batteries into the alternating current appliances use.
  • DC and AC protections and a consumer unit with an RCD.
  • Optional backup: a generator that kicks in when the batteries cannot cope.

The installation follows ITC-BT-40 of the Spanish Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulation (REBT), on generating installations, and the equipment meets its own safety standard (UNE-EN 62109 for converters).

Farms and plots around Seville

We work mainly in the countryside and the river plain: farms and country houses around Carmona and Utrera, plots in Los Alcores, farm buildings and wells in the Vega del Guadalquivir and the Bajo Guadalquivir, and plots in the northern Aljarafe (Aljarafe North). The typical case is a weekend house that runs on a noisy generator today, or a well irrigated by hand because the power does not reach it. For pumping, we coordinate the solar side with irrigation and well pumps and, on working farms, with agricultural installations.

How we size it

  1. List of loads: which appliances, for how many hours and at what time of year.
  2. Start-up peaks: pumps and compressors that draw a lot of power when they start.
  3. Days of autonomy you want to cover with batteries alone.
  4. Solar production at your site in the worst month of use.
  5. Backup, if the house is used every day in winter.

With that we choose panels, batteries and inverter and give you a fixed quote.

How we work

  1. Site visit: orientation, shading, where the panels and batteries will go.
  2. Calculation and fixed quote in writing.
  3. Installation with protections and consumer unit.
  4. Commissioning and a walkthrough of the system: how to read the battery status and what not to connect at the same time.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between off-grid and grid-connected solar?

Grid-connected self-consumption is linked to the grid: what the panels do not produce you buy from the supplier, and what is left over is exported. Off-grid has no grid behind it, so everything you use has to come from the panels or the batteries. That is why it is sized with more margin and almost always with backup for spells of cloudy days.

Can I run a fridge, a water pump or air conditioning off-grid?

Yes, if the installation is sized for it. What matters is how much energy you use per day and the power of appliances that start at the same time, such as a pump or a compressor. A fridge and lighting are easy; air conditioning or a large well pump need more panels, more batteries and a powerful inverter.

What happens on cloudy days?

The batteries cover the days of autonomy that were planned. If the spell lasts longer, the backup takes over: usually a generator with manual or automatic start. If the house is used every day in winter, backup is the sensible choice.

Is it cheaper than bringing in a grid connection?

It depends mainly on the distance to the nearest grid and on what you will consume. If the line would be long, off-grid usually works out better; if the grid passes nearby and consumption is high, it is worth getting a quote for both options. We help you compare them, including handling a new supply connection (alta de suministro).

What does an off-grid solar kit include?

Panels with their mounting frame, charge controller, batteries, an inverter to give you alternating current like at home, DC and AC protections, cabling and a small consumer unit. We do not sell a sealed box: we choose each part according to your consumption so it is neither short nor oversized.

Does it work for a caravan or a tool shed?

Yes, on a smaller scale. A caravan or a shed with lighting, chargers and a small fridge can run on one panel, one battery and a small inverter. We fit it with the right protections so it is safe and copes with the summer heat.

Solar panels for self-consumption

We install solar panels in Seville, Spain and the surrounding province on a turnkey basis: we study your consumption and your roof, fit panels, inverter and protection devices, and handle the legalisation and the compensation for your surplus energy. With Seville's sunshine, each kW installed saves an average of about 189 euros a year.

Solar batteries

We install solar batteries in Seville, Spain, lithium units in new installations or added to panels you already have, so the energy left over at midday can be used in the evening and at night. First we use your real consumption to work out whether it pays off, how much capacity you need and which inverter is required.

Solar panel maintenance

We carry out solar panel maintenance in Seville, Spain: panel cleaning, thermal imaging to find damaged cells and connections, and checks of the inverter, protections and monitoring. You recover the production lost to dust and to faults nobody sees, even if another company installed your system.

Generators

Generator installation in Seville, Spain for homes, farms, warehouses and premises open to the public: manual or automatic changeover panel, lines, protection devices and earthing, so the generator takes over when the power goes without putting the installation or the grid at risk. We also install the standby supplies required by ITC-BT-28.

Automatic irrigation and well pumps

We handle the electrical side of automatic irrigation installation in Seville, Spain: a protected supply for the controller, wiring for the solenoid valves, rain sensors and phone control, and the well pump control panel with dry-run protection so the pump does not burn out when the water level drops. For villas, townhouses and plots in the Aljarafe and the surrounding countryside.
