Ceiling fan installation in Seville, Spain: no wobble, no noise

In Seville the ceiling fan is almost another household appliance: it is used from May to October, helps the air conditioning work less and, in bedrooms without air conditioning, is what lets you sleep. A badly fixed fan sways, makes noise and, in the worst case, comes loose. That is why, when we handle a ceiling fan installation in Seville, we put as much care into the fixing as into the connection.

What it includes

  • Removing the existing light and taking it away if you want.
  • Reinforced fixing to the floor slab or the ceiling structure, never only to the plaster or the junction box.
  • Fitting the fan with balanced blades and its light shade if it has one.
  • Connection to the light point with a remote control, speed controller or double switch for light and blades.
  • New light point in the ceiling if there is none, with its cable from a lighting circuit.
  • Extractor fans for bathrooms and kitchens, with a timer.

Typical cases in Seville

  • Bedrooms without air conditioning. In flats in Triana, La Macarena or Cerro-Amate it is common for the air conditioning to be only in the living room, and the ceiling fan is the answer for the bedrooms.
  • Old plaster ceilings. In flats in Nervión or San Juan de Aznalfarache with a plaster false ceiling, the challenge is finding where to anchor the bracket. We locate the slab and reinforce if needed.
  • New builds. In newly handed-over homes in Sevilla Este, Dos Hermanas or Alcalá de Guadaíra, the light points come without fittings: if you want fans in the bedrooms and lights elsewhere, we fit everything in the same visit, together with light fitting installation.
  • Bathrooms without a window. An extractor fan with a timer prevents damp and mould. We coordinate it with the bathroom electrics if you are renovating.

How we work

  1. You send us a photo of the ceiling, the light point and the fan you have bought.
  2. We give you a fixed price and tell you whether a new circuit or reinforcement is needed.
  3. We fit the bracket, checking the strength of the ceiling.
  4. We connect and set up the remote or the speed controller.
  5. We test every speed and the light, and balance the blades if there is vibration.

If you have other things pending, we combine the visit with other small electrical repairs.

Regulations

Fans with a light are connected as lighting loads under ITC-BT-44 of the Spanish Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulation, on a lighting circuit with its protection. Bathroom extractor fans and towel rails are installed respecting the protection zones of ITC-BT-27, with the connection outside the areas that can get wet. Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to install a ceiling fan in Seville, Spain?

As an estimate, 50 to 90 euros plus 21 % VAT per fan fitted in place of a light, with its reinforced fixing and the remote or speed controller. If there is no light point in the ceiling or you want a new wall switch, the circuit is added. Send us a photo of the ceiling and we give you the price.

Can a fan go where there is a light now?

Yes, that is the most common case: we use the light point and its switch. What changes is the fixing, because a fan weighs more than a light and also turns and vibrates. We check the ceiling and fix the bracket to the structure with suitable plugs (anchors in the US), not to the junction box or to the plaster alone.

Can I switch the light and the blades separately?

Yes. The simplest way is the remote control that comes with many fans. If you prefer to do it from the wall, a double switch can be fitted when there is enough cable to the ceiling, or a wall speed controller compatible with the fan. We explain which option your installation allows.

Why does my ceiling fan wobble or make noise?

Usually because of a loose fixing, unbalanced blades or screws that have worked loose with use. Sometimes the bracket is fixed only to the plaster. We check the fixing, balance the blades with their kit and tighten every joint. A properly fitted fan should not sway at any speed.

Do you install bathroom extractor fans?

Yes. We fit bathroom and kitchen extractor fans with a timer, which keep running for a few minutes after the light goes off to clear the damp. In the bathroom we respect the protection zones set by the regulation. As a reference, they cost 50 to 120 euros plus VAT per unit installed.

Is a ceiling fan worth it if I already have air conditioning?

In Seville, often yes. Fans are used from May to October, help the air conditioning work less and, in bedrooms without air conditioning, are what lets you sleep. Many flats have air conditioning only in the living room, so a fan in each bedroom is a common and inexpensive addition.
