Thermal imaging of electrical panels and installations in Seville, Spain
Thermal imaging of an electrical panel in Seville, Spain uses an infrared camera to find hot spots on terminals, connections and protective devices before they fail or start a fire. We inspect the panels of apartment buildings, shops, warehouses and homes while the installation is running under load, and hand you a report with the images, the temperatures and what needs correcting.

What thermal imaging of an electrical panel is for
Many burnt-out panels start the same way: a connection that worked loose over the years, a terminal that oxidised or a cable working above what it can carry. For months that spot runs hot without anyone noticing, until one day the breaker trips, an insulation melts or there is a smell of burning.
Thermal imaging of electrical panels lets you see that heat before it does any damage. We go over the panel with an infrared camera, and any point running hotter than normal shows up in the image. It is predictive maintenance: you repair while it is still cheap and without stopping your activity.
What a thermal imaging survey detects
- Loose connections on the terminals of breakers, RCDs and busbars.
- Overloaded protective devices: breakers working at their limit because the circuit has grown.
- Phase imbalance in three-phase installations, when one phase carries much more load than the others.
- Hot cables caused by an undersized cross-section or badly made joints.
- Deteriorated components: contactors, relays or fuses running hotter than they should.
Where we carry it out
- Apartment buildings and their communities of owners. Common services panels, lifts (elevators), pumps and garages. It complements building maintenance well and helps you reach a periodic inspection with everything in order.
- Shops, bars and offices. Commercial kitchens, cold rooms and air conditioning concentrate heavy loads on a few circuits. We see it often in premises in the city centre and Nervión, where installations have grown with every change of business. More on shops and offices and bars and restaurants.
- Warehouses and industrial estates. Main panels, machinery panels and power lines on the estates of Dos Hermanas, Alcalá de Guadaíra, La Rinconada or the north of Seville. It fits within industrial maintenance.
- Homes. When the fuse board gets warm, smells or a breaker trips for no obvious reason, especially in houses running air conditioning, an induction hob and an EV charger at the same time.
How we work
- Preparation. You tell us how many panels there are and when they carry most load, because the survey is done with the installation running.
- Visual and safety inspection. We open the covers with the necessary precautions and check the general condition.
- Thermal images of every panel, with a normal photograph so each point can be identified.
- Analysis. We compare temperatures between identical components and classify each anomaly by severity.
- Report. You receive the images, the temperatures, the location of each fault and the priority for correcting it.
- Correction if you want it. Re-tightening connections, replacing protective devices or rebalancing loads, with a prior quote. If the panel is badly deteriorated, a fuse board replacement may be the better option.
The method of thermography for condition monitoring of equipment is set out in the ISO 18434-1 standard. If the fault has already happened and the panel is damaged, what you need is an urgent repair from our 24-hour emergency electrician service.
A typical case
A restaurant in Seville notices that the kitchen breaker trips now and again in the middle of service, especially in August. The thermal images show a terminal on the kitchen RCD far hotter than everything else and one phase clearly more loaded than the others. The connection is re-tightened, the damaged terminal is replaced and the equipment is spread across the phases. The problem disappears without closing the restaurant for a single day.
Thermal imaging and electrical testing
The camera sees heat, but it does not measure earthing or cable insulation. For a complete diagnosis, combine it with electrical safety testing: earthing, insulation, loop impedance and RCDs.

Frequently asked questions
What is a thermal imaging survey of an electrical installation?
It is an inspection with an infrared camera that turns the temperature of every component in the panel into an image. A loose connection, an oxidised terminal or an overloaded cable runs hotter than the rest and shows up as a bright patch. That way faults are found before they cause a power cut, an expensive breakdown or a fire.
How much does thermal imaging of electrical panels cost?
As a market guide, from about 150 euros plus 21 % VAT for small installations, around 720 euros on average, and up to about 3,000 euros for large installations with many panels. The price depends on the number of panels, access and the report you need. We give you a fixed price before the visit.
Does the power have to be switched off for the survey?
No. Quite the opposite: thermal imaging is done with the installation running and under load, because hot spots only appear when current flows. We open the panel covers with the necessary safety measures, take the images and close them again. Your shop, office, hotel or building carries on as normal.
How often should a business or a building with holiday lets have one?
There is no compulsory frequency for homes. In shops, warehouses and buildings with heavy loads it is usually part of preventive maintenance, for example once a year and before the months of highest demand. In Seville it makes sense before summer, when air conditioning pushes panels to their limit and holiday lets are at their fullest.
Does thermal imaging replace testing with instruments?
No, the two complement each other. Thermal imaging detects overheating, but it does not measure the earthing (grounding), the insulation of the cables or the tripping of the RCDs. That is what electrical safety testing is for. Serious maintenance combines both and corrects whatever turns up.
Can the report be shared with a head office or an owner abroad?
Yes. The report is a document with each thermal image, its normal photograph, the temperatures, the location of each fault and its priority, so it can be forwarded to a facilities team, an international head office or an owner who lives outside Spain. Any corrections are quoted separately before we carry them out.
