ITC-BT-52 schemes 1 to 4 (esquemas de recarga)
The four ways of supplying an EV charging point defined in ITC-BT-52: scheme 1, shared backbone; scheme 2, individual line from the home meter; scheme 3, separate meter for the space; scheme 4, dedicated circuit from the board.

What the ITC-BT-52 schemes are
The schemes in ITC-BT-52 (section 3) describe where the electricity reaching the charger comes from and how it is metered. Choosing the right one decides the price, the cable length and who pays for the energy.
| Scheme | How it works | Where it is used |
|---|---|---|
| 1 (backbone) | A main meter feeds a line through the garage with branches to each space; use is split with sub-meters or a load manager | Communities with a shared installation, car parks, fleets |
| 2 | Line from your home meter (or board) to your space; the car goes on your home bill | The most common case in communal garages |
| 3 | New supply with its own meter for the space | Spaces far away, or owners who do not live in the building |
| 4 | Dedicated circuit from the home board (4a) or the car park board (4b) | Detached houses |
Which one suits you
- Flat with a basement space: usually scheme 2, with the cable from your meter in the meter room.
- Space far from the meter: from about 50 metres scheme 3 often pays off. The new connection costs roughly 800 to 2,500 euros, plus a fixed fee of 8 to 12 euros a month for the power.
- Detached or semi-detached house: scheme 4a, with the C13 circuit from the main board.
- Community with many interested owners: scheme 1 with load management and sub-meters. Forty neighbours on scheme 2 means forty cables through the garage; with a backbone and load manager, the planned load drops to 30 %.
Next step
The scheme is chosen at the site visit, after measuring distances and checking the meter room and contracted power. See EV charger in a communal garage and communal EV charging backbone in Seville, Spain.
