FAQ

How much does it cost to centralise the electricity meters in a block of flats in Spain?

Centralising the meters in a block of flats has a guide price of 100 to 650 euros per home, according to industry price references, plus the shared part: a typical centralisation board costs about 870 euros in materials alone. The total depends on the number of homes, the new riser cables and the distributor's requirements.

Meter centralisation cost

What centralising the meters costs depends on the building, but price references put it at 100 to 650 euros per home. On top of that comes the shared part: the centralisation board, with its main switch disconnector, busbars and modules, costs about 870 euros in materials alone in a typical case.

What centralising meters means

In many older Spanish buildings the meters are spread around the flats (apartments), landings or entrance hall. Centralising means moving them to a compliant shared room or cabinet (centralización de contadores), from which a new individual riser cable (derivación individual) runs to each home’s fuse board.

When it comes up

  • When the distributor requires it for new supplies or power increases, under its own technical rules.
  • In building refurbishments or when renewing the building supply installations.
  • To make reading and access easier, and to prepare the building for EV charging.

What the work includes

  1. Technical report or project and coordination with the distributor, which in Seville, Spain is e-distribución.
  2. Meter room or cabinet complying with ITC-BT-16.
  3. Main supply line from the main fuse box (CGP).
  4. New individual riser cables to each home.
  5. Boletín (electrical certificate) and registration.

The benefit for EV charging

With the meters centralised and in order, each owner can run a line from their own meter to their parking space, which is the most common setup for installing a charger. If spare space is also left in the meter room, it will be easier to add separate meters for the spaces that need them.

How it is decided

It is work on common elements approved at the owners’ meeting. A quote broken down by item, with the shared part and each home’s part separated, helps the community decide on the figures.

When to call an electrician
