Installing security cameras at home in Spain has a guide price of 400 to 2,500 euros with 4 cameras, 800 to 5,000 euros with 8 and 1,500 to 9,500 euros with 16, including recorder and installation. The price depends on the type of camera, image quality, cabling and viewing from your phone.

Security camera installation cost at home

What CCTV costs to install depends mainly on the number of cameras and their quality. These are the guide references published in industry price guides, including equipment and installation:

SystemGuide price
4 cameras400 to 2,500 euros
8 cameras800 to 5,000 euros
16 cameras1,500 to 9,500 euros

What the price depends on

  • IP or analogue cameras. IP cameras offer more resolution and features; modern analogue ones are cheaper.
  • Image quality and night vision.
  • Indoor or outdoor, with the right IP rating for the weather.
  • Recorder and hard drive, depending on how many days of footage you want to keep.
  • Cabling: whether cable has to run along the facade, through a false ceiling or in trunking.
  • Remote viewing from your phone and motion detection alerts.

What the law requires

  • A sign warning of a video surveillance area, under the GDPR and Spain’s data protection law (Organic Law 3/2018).
  • Record only your own property. Cameras must not capture the public street or neighbouring homes.
  • In a community of owners, cameras in common areas require the community’s agreement.
  • Connection to an alarm receiving centre: only through licensed security companies, under the Private Security Law 5/2014.

A properly done installation

  • Cameras at entrances, doors and walkways, never in bedrooms or bathrooms.
  • A protected power supply, with a UPS (SAI) so the recorder keeps working if the power goes off.
  • The recorder in a hidden or protected place.
  • Changed passwords and updated equipment, to prevent unwanted access.

Cameras and alarm

Cameras record; an alarm detects intrusion and raises the alert. Many homes combine both: an alarm system costs about 700 euros on average, and the cameras let you check what happened.
